Welcome to the website of Winter Gardens Academy. The quotes above from children at the school demonstrate why I am extremely proud to be the Headteacher of this thriving school, putting our fantastic children at the heart of everything we do.

Following the OFSTED inspection of October 2014, Winter Gardens joined a Multi Academy Trust and has since gone from strength to strength. 

As one of four primary schools and one infant school in our Multi Academy Trust (South Essex Academy Trust), we firmly believe in collaboration at all levels which has enabled us to create a highly effective team of staff and instil the value of ‘working together’ in our children.

The teachers and leaders of the school ensure that children are engaged and enthused in their learning. Children are empowered to lead their learning and every child is encouraged to challenge themselves in the next step of their learning journey. As a result, the school have improved the outcomes for children year on year since Academy conversion.

Our school curriculum follows the ‘Significant Learning Model’ of Dee Fink. This enables us to pair the teaching of academic skills with lifelong learning which we believe is essential to ensuring the very best future for our children.

Here at Winter Gardens Academy, we promote a Growth Mindset in our children, encouraging them to persevere and take risks in their learning. Our Wellbeing Managers support the children in securing positive attitudes towards themselves and others, as we firmly believe that we can make a difference to the positive mental health of our children. The school values emotional awareness and develops children’s ability to regulate their emotions through the use of strategies such as ‘Zones of Regulation’ and relaxation techniques. Teaching children about how to stay safe online and keeping them constantly up to date with risks is an important priority of the school.

Our curriculum is full of exciting and relevant activities whether it’s a trip to the Houses of Parliament, attending a street dance club, competing in local art competitions or singing at the 02!
